Happy New Year from CMH!

January 6, 2011 - Leave a Response

2010 was a revolutionary year here at CMH – and it is coming up on the 1st Anniversary of CT @ CMH!  More than 2000 folks have been able to access CT close to home and there were a few whose life it saved with quick diagnosis – priceless!

Pictured is CEO Kelly Isfan accepting the Small, Rural and Northern Award of Excellence on behalf of Campbellford Memorial Hospital from Peter Johnson, Chair of the Ontario Hospital Assocation’s Board.  This prestigious award recognizes innovation and excellence in the delivery of patient care within a small, rural and/or northern hospital.

Ms. Isfan noted “you can’t be a great CEO in the absence of a great hospital team and a supportive community.  This award is testament that we are doing the right things for patients to achieve our goal to make our hospital a model of what a rural hospital can be:  innovative, warm and striving for excellence.”

The Foundation would like to thank all the CMH Staff, Board members, volunteers and community donors for all your support in 2010 – having a CT at CMH has been a reality for almost a year now and CMH is like a new hospital with this technology – and it has only been possible because all of you want the best care for your families, friends and neighbours!  Thank you for making a difference every day for patients at CMH!

There are many ways to continue making a difference for patients – payroll pledges, monthly giving through the Foundation, donate stocks, come to a gala, play a round of golf – tell your friends and family about CanadaHelps (online giving for those not living in our area), Tribute/In Memoriam giving in honour of a special loved one.

Every gift helps someone in need in the CMH emergency room or an admitted patient – and no gift is too small.

All the best in 2011 to all of you from the CMH Foundation and on behalf of the CMH Team!

Happy Holidays to Our “Angels of Care”

December 17, 2010 - Leave a Response

It is that time of year again for our Angel Campaign at CMH, where donors can send a Thank You to their “Angel of Care” at Campbellford Memorial Hospital.  There have been a few hundred Angels come into our office and we truly enjoy the notes of thanks written by our generous donors and patients for the care they and their family have received.

Some of the comments include:

To the Doctors & Nurses in Emergency“Thank you to the Emergency Room Staff for the thorough check up and your very courteous & friendly care.”

To the ER“Thank you for your quick service in the Emergency Department.”

To All Staff“We appreciate the care you provide.”

To the ER Staff“For your kindness and understanding during my many ER visits.”

To All the Nurses“For the excellent care they give all the time plus a lot of TLC.”

It has been a successful year for the Foundation and over at CMH, the installation of the CT Scanner early this year has allowed CMH and all the medical staff the opportunity to take even better care of their patients and we thank so many for their gifts that brought this campaign to life!  It could not have happened without your support!  You are our “Angels of Care” for helping so many through your generosity!

The CMH Foundation would like to take this opportunity to send well wishes to all the patients, donors and community supporters and their families, during this festive time of year!  Have a wonderful Holiday Season and all the best for a Happy New Year!

This past Friday, Nov 19th, the CMH Foundation hosted about 50 guests from Havelock-Belmont-Methuen as we celebrated the successful completion of their pledge to CT and honoured 20 donors with plaques!  In the photo, we see Dr. Bartlett sharing how having a CT Scanner at CMH has changed the lives of the medical team and patients.

We would like to thank Housekeeping for a great job in setting up for so many, the Dietary team for a lovely reception filled with yummy treats, Kelly Isfan and Dr. Bartlett for sharing time with the donors: your kind words and information sharing from your perspectives are much appreciated by our generous donors.

Thank you to the Havelock community for all your support for CMH & the CT Campaign – you have made a difference in the lives of many!

CMH Receives Provincial Recognition for Positive Patient Safety Initiatives

November 9, 2010 - Leave a Response

The success of Campbellford Memorial Hospital’s (CMH) Antibiotics Stewardship Program will soon be showcased to Ontario hospitals as an innovative quality and patient safety initiative, helping other care givers learn from this experience.

CMH introduced its Antibiotic Stewardship Program in 2008 to tackle the presence of Clostridium Difficile (C. diff) among its patients. The program is part of a larger hospital patient safety focus that is proactively addressing three key factors: proper hand washing, environment cleanliness and the use of certain antibiotics. This focus has significantly reduced the presence of C. diff at CMH.

The OHA puts out a call for success stories every two years, and showcases this collection of unique and innovative quality and patient safety initiatives by various hospitals all across Ontario in its Patient Safety Leading Practices Guidebook.

This year’s publication is showcasing a diverse range of 30 excellent hospital projects in the area of quality and patient safety. Our hospital’s submission was one of 141 responses to the OHA’s call for submissions.

“This is great news for our hospital and the community we serve. Please join me in congratulating the fantastic team at Campbellford Memorial Hospital and recognizing the innovation and great work they’ve demonstrated. Our Antibiotics Stewardship Program is another example of our commitment to quality patient care and it is this kind of best practice that is gaining the hospital recognition as a leader in rural health care,” says Kelly Isfan, President and CEO, Campbellford Memorial Hospital.

CIBC Supports CT @ CMH!

October 12, 2010 - Leave a Response

If you have been to Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) for a CT Scan, you can thank CIBC for their commitment to supporting local healthcare initiatives like the campaign that helped bring a CT Scanner to CMH.  Last week, the Knudsen, Brady and Vaughan Advisory Group of CIBC Wood Gundy in Belleville presented the final payment of the $15,000 CIBC pledge to Neil Hannam, Executive Director of the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Mr. Hannam noted “CIBC has made a wise investment that will contribute to the future of the healthcare system in the entire region. Northumberland, Peterborough and Quinte residents that use CMH now have access to life-saving equipment as a result of this contribution.  The CT Scanner has served over 1750 patients already and we know it has not only saved lives, but has given the medical team at CMH the ability to diagnose and treat patients much quicker.  We thank CIBC for helping to bring a whole new level of care to patients in the region.”
